YCOM timeline
YCOM is a Catholic Christian organization that provides annual mission trips for highschool and university aged youth. In addition to the trips, YCOM sustains the missionary experiences of the youth by holding monthly meetings and events. We hope to bring our missionary experience back home through outreach activities.
YCOM was established in early 2012, where a priest and a small group of Salesian cooperators got the idea of forming a group within the Church that supported outreach and immersion to the poor. After a few months, a couple of youth leaders from Couples For Christ - Youth expressed interest in doing a mission trip, and got together with the Salesian cooperators to put this idea into action. They chose the name "Young Caglieros" in honour of Don Bosco's pupil, Bishop Cagliero, who was the first to lead 10 missionaries to Patagonia. Similarly, and unplanned, YCOM sent its first 10 missionaries from Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish to the Philippines in July 2012 through the Great Adventure Tour, a CFC-Youth initiative, in collaboration with ANCOP (Answering the Cry of the Poor).
In 2013, YCOM collaborated with the Salesian Gospel Roads I & II, and sent 5 University students to New York, 7 Highschool students and 1 Salesian cooperator to Toronto. Our goal is to bring Salesian Gospel Roads to Surrey, B.C. in 2015! Join us!
